About
Chief Deputy Marc Mashaw began his law enforcement career as a reserve deputy with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office in 1987. He was sworn in as a full-time deputy in October of 1989.
Mashaw has served as a patrol deputy, training officer and shift supervisor for the Patrol Division. Mashaw later transferred to the Metro Narcotics Unit where he served for over four years. After that he served in the Civil Division for two years before coming back to Patrol as a Shift Commander.
In 2008 Mashaw was promoted to Captain of Communications and Computer Services Divisions.
Chief Mashaw is a graduate of the 231st F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico, VA.
Mashaw was promoted to Major and placed in charge of the Patrol Division.
In February of 2010, Mashaw was promoted to the rank of Colonel.
Mashaw was promoted by Sheriff Russell on July 1, 2012, to his present position as Chief Deputy of the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Just a few examples of the upgrades and investments made during Sheriff Russell’s time as Sheriff include the following: Electronic Field Reporting System, new Jail Reporting System, new communications system, new SWAT Bearcat Vehicle and a new river patrol boat and emergency Gatortail Boat.
The creation of the Women’s Transitional Work Program and locating both the Women’s and Men’s Transitional Work Programs at the Ouachita Correctional Center during Russell’s time as Sheriff has provided income and stabilized the Jail Fund.
The construction of the North Delta Regional Training Academy reflects Sheriff Russell’s commitment to providing the training and equipment to give deputies the tools they need to be safe and provide the best law enforcement possible.
These upgrades and investments, as well as others, were accomplished with excellent audit reports reflecting the focus on financial accountability
